I would like to personally thank you for inquiring about Faith Baptist Church. I am excited about the blessings that the Lord has showered on us. Our prayer is that we will continue to be a blessing to the community, as it has been for the past twenty-five years. As we look to the future, we will look to the Lord. For it’s by Christ alone that we can call heaven our home and all glory will be given to him.

I grew up in the Brazosport area, fifty miles south of Houston. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Savior at the age of five and was baptized soon after at the First Baptist Church of Clute, where I grew up. In my senior year of high school, the Lord began to deal with my heart about the Ministry. At youth Camp the same year, I surrendered my life to the Ministry of God. At the age of twenty one, the Lord gave me the opportunity to be the Youth Pastor at Bay City Baptist Church in Bay City, Texas. I served there as Youth Pastor and Young Adults Pastor for seven and a half years. I feel very blessed to have been able to learn so much by being raised around the ministry my entire life. God has blessed my family and me in so many ways and I look forward to what the Lord has in store for His ministry at Faith Baptist Church.

        My name is James Conner. My wife, Julia, and I married in February of 1993. I received the call from the Lord to enter into Youth Ministry in the summer of ‘94 and we’ve served the Lord in that capacity until May of ‘07. For a little over a year God has been changing my heart, moving me to the next step of His will for our lives. In May of 2007 I surrendered to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I’m thankful for the opportunities to preach and I’m looking forward to what God has in store for us.
We have three wonderful children: Jordynn, Joshua, and Jacob. They are truly the joy of our lives and we thank God for them and the laughter they bring to our home daily. We love our church family as well. Not too many staff members can say that they’re working in the church they grew up in. I count it a privilege to claim Faith Baptist Church as our church home.

I like to think at some point in every Christian’s life, that they ask God to place them in a ministry that they can best serve him. Everyone has some talent that God has given them to use. Most Christians today don’t apply their talents to God's service because they can’t always get immediate gratification.  Yet they will go into the World and apply their talents to receive trophies, money, things that God refers to as wood, hay and stubble.  The greater gifts of God come to those who do not seek rewards. Daily I surrender and crucify myself and my doubts in order to continue. God tells us to do this so that our pride and sinful nature is out of the way and He can now use us. When I finally let go and surrendered to the Music Ministry at Faith Baptist Church the talk became the walk.  I have a beautiful wife Kristina and three children Kaci, Carson, Leah. God has also blessed us with a loving Church that is seeking God’s will and looking to win the lost . I was saved at the age of fifteen while Bro. Bill Watson was pastor of Faith Baptist in 1992. My prayer is that God will never stop using me in whatever ministry He sees fit. Not for my glory but His.

   What a privilege it is to serve an awesome and personal God! It is my desire that you know Him and see His presence in this church. I joined the staff of Faith Baptist in September of 2007 as full time youth minister. What an honor it is to serve the Lord! I grew up in the East Texas area—graduating from Brownsboro High School in 1997, T.V.C.C. in ‘99 and East Texas Baptist University in 2002. I have been married to my wife Karen since 2002 and God has blessed us with a child who is to arrive in March of ‘08. We are thrilled about the blessings God has poured out on Faith Baptist, especially on the young people here. We are a VERY active youth department with activities , ministries and outreach opportunities for young people of all ages. So come check out our FUEL Student Ministries every Sunday Morning at 9:45 a.m. (Grades 7-12) or stop by the REFUEL Teen Center down the street to hang out with us.
